How can we help?

Answers about your account, Plus, security keys and bank connections, written from what the iPhone app does today. If your question isn’t here, write to us.

The front desk

Email is how to reach us. Pick the address that fits: It helps to include:
  • your iPhone model and its iOS version;
  • the app’s version, shown on the About tab next to Version;
  • what you tapped, and what you saw.
Please don’t email passwords, recovery codes or a security key’s PIN.

Before you start

What the app does, and what it doesn’t
SI Money Tracker is education, not advice. It shows the math and keeps your numbers in order; you make the decisions.
  • No tax, legal, credit-repair or investment advice, and no buy or sell recommendations.
  • We don’t sell or arrange loans, insurance or cars, and we don’t file anything for you.
  • We aren’t affiliated with the IRS, the VA or any gig app.
  • It’s for personal and household money, with personal and business labels for a small business or side gig. It isn’t team payroll, salary-cap management or wealth management.
  • It reads balances and transactions. It never moves money.
When a decision is about taxes or the law, a CPA or an attorney decides.

SI Money Tracker is designed for iPhone. There’s no Android or web version, and no version made for iPad. A few optional extras need a newer iOS or a newer iPhone. It’s tested most on recent iOS versions.
Do I need an account?
No. The budget comes with the app, no account needed: the app opens straight to your plan. You sign in for the parts that use our server, such as connecting a bank, the Tips log, Lists & events and loyalty cards. Signing in means Sign in with Apple plus a second lock: a 6‑digit code from a code app, or two security keys. The app asks for no name, email address or phone number. Connecting a bank also needs Plus.
What does it cost?
The budget comes with the app, no account needed. Plus adds bank connection and automatic import: 7 days free when Apple says you're eligible, then $9.99/month, billed through your Apple Account. Cancel anytime in Settings. The free week is for Plus; the budget has no trial period. The Plus screen in the app shows the price from the App Store, and shows the free week when Apple says your account can have it. There’s no yearly plan, and Plus isn’t shared through Family Sharing.

Plus and billing

Apple bills Plus through your Apple Account. Apple handles the payment, so we never see your card details.
How do I start Plus?
Sign in, then tap Connect a bank on the Bank tab, or go to About, Account settings…, Subscription, Subscribe to Plus. The Plus screen shows the monthly price and, when you’re eligible, the free week. Tap Subscribe and confirm with Apple.
How do I cancel Plus?
Because Apple bills Plus, you cancel it with Apple:
  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your name at the top (your Apple Account), then Subscriptions.
  3. Choose SI Money Tracker and cancel.
From the app, About, Account settings…, Subscription, Manage subscription opens the same Apple page. After the free week, your Apple Account is charged each month until you cancel. Deleting the app or your account doesn’t cancel it, so cancel with Apple too. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the free week or the current month ends. Refunds are handled by Apple.
What happens when Plus ends?
Your budget and everything you typed stay as they are. New bank syncs stop (the app says Plus is required to sync), and the transactions already on your iPhone stay visible. To remove a bank connection completely, unlink the bank (see How do I unlink a bank?).
I subscribed, but the app says “Not subscribed”
Tap Restore purchases in About, Account settings…, Subscription, or Restore Purchases on the Plus screen. The app then checks your purchase with Apple. Still not right? Email support@simoneytracker.com.

Your account

Everything in this section is in About, Account settings…, which also opens from the Plan tab’s menu.
How do I sign out, and what does it remove?
Go to About, Account settings…, Sign out, then confirm. Sign out is also always on the lock screen. Signing out ends your session and removes your synced bank transactions from this iPhone, with the app’s saved copies and scanned membership codes. Your budget is still stored on this iPhone. Bank sync stops until you sign in again. Signing out doesn’t delete your data on our server: your monthly history stays there for when you sign back in. To remove it, delete your account. Sign back in to the same account and your transactions come back on the next sync, though the oldest may not. Scanned membership codes need to be scanned again. If Account settings says your account’s sign-in method has ended, signing out is final: you can’t sign back in to that account. Export your plan or delete your account before you sign out.
How do I delete my account, and what does it remove?
  1. Go to About, Account settings…, Delete account.
  2. Tap Delete my account to confirm.
Before anything is deleted, the app releases every bank connection. If a bank can’t be released, nothing is deleted, and you can try again in a moment. Then it deletes your account, your sessions, your bank connection records, your monthly history and the content you saved, as our Privacy Policy describes. Synced transactions leave this iPhone. Your full budget plan is still stored on this iPhone and in your own iPhone backups; the app doesn’t send the plan itself to our server (see Does the app send my budget to your server?). Some records stay. For example, records of purchases and service costs keep their amounts but no longer name you; our server’s ordinary request log isn’t edited; and we keep data where the law requires it for legal, tax or fraud-prevention purposes. Our Privacy Policy explains what stays. Deleting your account can’t be undone, and it doesn’t cancel Plus: cancel that with Apple. Questions about deletion: privacy@simoneytracker.com. Can’t sign in any more? Email privacy@simoneytracker.com and we’ll help you delete the account.
Can I get a copy of my plan?
Yes. Choose Export plan… from the Plan tab’s menu, from About, Tools or from Account settings. You can save a PDF report, a spreadsheet (.xlsx) that opens in Numbers, a CSV file or a JSON file. Exports hold your sections, items, totals and debts, and never your bank logins, access tokens or account numbers. There’s no way to import a file back in. Your monthly history has its own export while you’re signed in: About, Account settings…, Monthly history, Export all (JSONL)…. It saves every closed month, with its transactions, as one file.
Does the app send my budget to your server?
Your full plan is stored on your iPhone and in your own iPhone backups; the app doesn’t send the plan itself to our server. One setting sends its totals. While you’re signed in and Keep my plan’s monthly totals is on, that month’s plan totals (net income, total expenses, debt payments, surplus and each expense section’s total) are saved with your monthly history on our server. It starts on when you create your account. To turn it off, go to About, Account settings…, Monthly history and switch off Keep my plan’s monthly totals. It stays off for your account, on every iPhone, and the totals kept for months that haven’t closed yet are deleted; a closed month keeps the totals it closed with until you delete your account. Your monthly history is our server’s record of each closed month of your linked banks’ transactions. It stays when you sign out or unlink a bank; deleting your account removes it.

Sign-in, keys and locks

Every account has two locks: Sign in with Apple, then a second lock you choose, either a 6‑digit code from a code app or two hardware security keys. The settings are in About, Account settings…, Sign-in security. More in The Vault.
Code app or security keys: which should I choose?
A code app, such as Apple’s Passwords, shows a new 6‑digit code every 30 seconds. A security key is a small physical key you hold against the top of your iPhone or plug in, and it asks for its own PIN or fingerprint every time. The app’s own advice: codes can be tricked out of you by fake sign-in pages; security keys can’t. When security-key sign-up is open, a new account sees Choose your second lock. If it isn’t open, the app says so and you can start with a code app. You can switch later with Switch to security keys or Switch to a code app.
Why do I need two security keys?
So losing one never locks you out. Setup adds a main key and a backup key, and an account can hold up to 6 keys. You can’t remove a key if that would leave fewer than 2: the app asks you to add another key before that. There’s a second reason. If a key’s PIN is entered wrong too many times, the key locks and has to be reset, which erases it. Before you add a key, set its PIN with the key maker’s app.
I lost one of my security keys
  1. Sign in with your other key.
  2. In Sign-in security, choose the lost key and tap This key is lost or stolen. Confirm with your other key.
  3. Add a replacement soon. Until you do, the app shows Only one key works right now. Add a replacement key soon.
Removing a key or reporting it lost signs out your other devices. To add a key, you confirm with a key you already have, then use the new one.
I lost both keys, or can’t use them
Use one of your recovery codes. On the Verify it’s you screen, tap Use a recovery code, enter a code, then tap Recover.
  1. For your safety, this starts a wait of 72 hours, and every device is signed out.
  2. After the wait, sign in again within 7 days and enter another unused recovery code.
  3. Add 2 new keys. Your old keys stop working.
If you didn’t start it, signing in with one of your keys cancels the recovery. Then make new recovery codes. Your budget is still stored on your iPhone throughout, because it doesn’t need an account.
I lost my code app, or I have a new iPhone
A new or restored iPhone always asks you to sign in again: your sign-in is tied to the iPhone it was made on. Your budget comes along when you restore from your iPhone backup; your sign-in doesn’t. If your code app didn’t come with you, tap Use a recovery code on the Verify it’s you screen, then Recover. Each code works once, and using one signs out your other devices. Then set up your code app again within 30 minutes, when the app asks. That also gives you a fresh set of recovery codes. If you skip that step, that session can’t change sign-in security, and Auto-Lock may ask you to sign out and sign in again. Set up your code app, then sign out and sign back in with it.
Where are my recovery codes, and can I get new ones?
You saw 10 recovery codes once, when you turned on sign-in protection, and the app can’t show them again. Keep them somewhere safe. To replace them, go to Sign-in security and tap Make new recovery codes. Your old codes stop working as soon as the new ones are made. After too many wrong tries, recovery codes pause for a while before you can try again.
I think someone else got into my account
In Sign-in security, Security activity lists the last 50 events on your account, such as sign-ins, failed identity checks, key changes and list changes. Sign out on all other devices ends every other session; confirm it with your key, or sign in with Apple again and enter your code. Then make new recovery codes. Tell us what you saw at support@simoneytracker.com.
Why does the app ask for my key or code when I come back?
That’s Auto-Lock, and it runs while you’re signed in. The app is covered whenever you leave it, and asks for your key or code when you come back. Choose when it asks in About, Account settings…, Auto-Lock, Ask to unlock: Immediately (the default), or after 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour or 24 hours. Lock now locks it on the spot. Prefer a glance? Turn on Unlock with Face ID, Touch ID or passcode in the same place.
I’m stuck on the “App locked” screen
  • Every message on the lock screen offers Try again, and Sign out is always there. Signing out keeps your budget.
  • No signal? When our server can’t be reached and your iPhone has a passcode, the app lets you use Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode that one time.
  • After too many wrong codes, the app asks you to wait. The pause starts at 15 minutes and can grow to 24 hours.
Some of my figures show •••
You chose to lock those accounts, sections or debts, and any total that includes them shows ••• too. Lock chosen accounts with your security key: locked figures show •••; one touch reveals them for a set time. Tap Show locked accounts and touch your key. Show for offers 1 minute, 5 minutes (the default), 15 minutes or Until I leave the app. You pick what’s locked in About, Account settings…, Advanced settings, Locked with your security key. Hiding is not encryption: locked figures still count in your plan and are still stored on this iPhone and on our server. Lost your key? Use your other key, or Remove locked figures from this iPhone, which deletes the amounts and keeps the names. Locking figures is for accounts that use security keys. More in The Vault.
My security key isn’t accepted
  • Enter the key’s own PIN (or touch its fingerprint sensor), not your iPhone’s passcode.
  • Hold the key flat against the top of the iPhone, or plug it in.
  • The app accepts certified key models. If it says This key model isn’t accepted. Use a certified security key., use a different key.
  • A passkey synced between devices can’t stand in for a security key.

Bank connections

Connecting a bank is part of Plus and needs a signed-in account. It works with banks in the United States, and the bank-connection screens are in English. Your bank username and password go to your bank or to the secure bank-connection window, never to us. How bank logins work.
How do I connect a bank?
Tap Connect a bank on the Bank tab, or go to About, Account settings…, Linked banks. Without Plus, the Plus screen opens before the bank’s window. In the bank’s window, select every account you want, including credit cards. Checking and savings balances fill the Bank Account rows under Plan, Assets; cards and loans become creditors under Debts.
The app says my bank needs me to sign in again
Banks sometimes ask you to log in again. The Bank tab then shows [your bank] needs you to sign in again. Transactions stop syncing until you reconnect. Tap Reconnect and sign in to your bank. Until you do, the bank’s row in Linked banks reads Needs you to sign in again.
An account is missing, or I picked the wrong ones
In Linked banks, tap Choose accounts on that bank. It adds or removes accounts on the same bank without making a duplicate link. If an account also comes through another bank you linked, the app tells you it may appear twice. When your bank opens a new account, a New accounts at [your bank] banner offers the same choice. Linking the same bank a second time doesn’t add a copy; the app points you to Choose accounts. If your bank doesn’t list a card at all, add it yourself under Debts.
A card shows no APR or minimum payment
Card details come from your bank, and not every bank shares them. If yours didn’t, you’ll see [your bank] didn’t share card details (payment and APR) with us. Your card balance still counts. Tap it to try again. If the bank needs your OK, tap Allow card details: it reopens that bank’s connection so you can allow them. You can always type the APR and payment yourself; what you type wins over the bank’s figures. A card whose balance isn’t known shows Balance unavailable and is left out of your totals, never counted as $0.
Why isn’t today’s purchase showing yet?
New transactions aren’t instant. Your bank is checked for new transactions typically one to four times a day, depending on the bank, and balances and card details update about once a day. Pull down on the Bank tab to bring in anything that has already arrived (at most once every 5 minutes per bank); it doesn’t make your bank check sooner. Transactions in other currencies aren’t counted; the app works in US dollars.
Can I remove bank data from this iPhone without unlinking?
Yes: About, Account settings…, Bank data, Clear bank data on this device. Synced transactions leave this iPhone, while your banks stay linked and your budget stays. The next sync fills the transactions back in.
My net worth counts an old or duplicate balance
Open About, Account settings…, Balance review, Review Bank & Investment Balances. Each balance says which bank it’s linked to. Check the stale ones and tap Clear Selected; you see the before and after, and nothing changes until you confirm.

Language and accessibility

How do I see this website in Spanish?
Tap Español at the top of any page, or in the Language line at the bottom. Every page has a Spanish twin with the same answers. Your choice is remembered in this browser, and nowhere else.
Can I use the app in Spanish?
Yes. The app follows your iPhone’s language: with your iPhone set to Spanish, the whole app is in Spanish, including its permission prompts and the narrated parable. There’s no language switch inside the app. The app is offered in English and Spanish. The bank-connection screens are in English.
What accessibility support does the app have?
  • Text grows with your iPhone’s text size, up to the largest accessibility sizes on most screens. Figures are designed to change layout rather than be cut off, though this hasn’t been checked on a device at every size.
  • Reduce Motion, Reduce Transparency and Increase Contrast are respected.
  • Light and dark mode follow your iPhone.
  • Sounds and haptics each have a switch in About, Account settings…, Sound & haptics, and sounds follow the Ring/Silent switch.
  • Bright highlight effects change brightness slowly, following the WCAG guideline on flashes, and they hold still when Reduce Motion is on.
  • VoiceOver labels are in place across the app, but they haven’t been checked on a device yet.
If something is hard to use, tell us at support@simoneytracker.com.
And this website?
Every page and link works without JavaScript. Motion stops when your device asks for reduced motion, and the Motion switch at the bottom of each page turns it off. The elevator sound stays off until you turn it on. Colour is never the only cue.

How do I make a privacy request?
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you. You can delete your account, export your plan and unlink a bank yourself, in the app. For anything else, email privacy@simoneytracker.com.
Does this website collect anything about me?
Very little. The website has no accounts and no sign-up or contact forms, and runs no analytics or ads. The lobby’s concierge box reads what you type inside your browser and never sends it. Choices you make here (language, sound, motion, a suggested route) stay in your browser. Our website host keeps standard request logs. The lobby’s videos play from Vimeo with its do-not-track setting on, and each player loads as you scroll near it.
