Where these rates come from
Rates are the 2026 BAH rates, effective January 1, 2026, from the Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO) file BAH-ASCII-2026. This page uses the exact table bundled in the $iMT app. That table is a transcription of the DTMO files by the open-source project military-pay-calculator (MIT license), copied on September 17, 2026. It was not downloaded directly from a DoD site and has not yet been checked independently against the official publication, so confirm your rate with the official DTMO BAH rate lookup.
BAH depends only on pay grade, dependency status and duty location (37 U.S.C. § 403), so years of service don't change it. Overseas duty uses OHA, a different allowance this page doesn't cover. Treat housing-area names as labels, not official place names.
