Penthouse · The Founder About SI Money Tracker

Built by one of our own.

SI Money Tracker is made by Michael J. Ramirez, a U.S. Army Green Beret who served about 20 years on active duty, starting in 2006.
  • He began as a combat medic, then served in the 75th Ranger Regiment (four rotations to Afghanistan).
  • He went on to the 7th Special Forces Group as a Special Forces Senior Medical Sergeant.
  • Six combat deployments in all.
He spent much of that career teaching, and kept learning.
  • He earned National Registry paramedic certification (NREMT).
  • He once taught a two-week medical course in Spanish.
  • While still on active duty he earned a B.S. in Health Sciences, with a major in Clinical Health Sciences, from the School of Medicine & Health Sciences at The George Washington University. The degree was awarded on January 5, 2024, with a 3.94 cumulative GPA at GWU (36 institutional credit hours; 125 total hours with transfer credit).

Why he built it

Military families run on trust, and on paychecks that have to stretch across moves, deployments and long stretches apart. SI Money Tracker is the tool he wanted for them, and for every household in between.
  • It turns your paycheck into a plan.
  • It tells you what to fix first, in plain English or Spanish.
  • It stores your full plan on your iPhone and in your iPhone backups.

The pay stub that started it

A Leave and Earnings Statement is the military pay stub. It is also hard to read. This is sample data, not anyone's real pay. Tap a line to see where it lands in your plan.

Where it lands in your plan
  • Income. What comes in each month.
  • Already taken out. The plan starts from net pay.
  • Your paycheck. The plan's starting point.

What we hold ourselves to

Education, not advice.

We show the math behind the app’s numbers and never promise outcomes.

Claims we can show.

If the app doesn’t do it today, we don’t say it does.

Your plan is stored on your iPhone.

Your full spending plan is stored on your iPhone and in your own iPhone backups; the app doesn’t send the plan itself to our server. If “Keep my plan’s monthly totals” is on, that month’s totals are saved with your account’s monthly history, and you can turn it off. It may already be on, so check it in Account settings › Monthly history. Your bank username and password go only to your bank or to Plaid’s secure window, never to us. The privacy policy lists what our server keeps.

English and Spanish, together.

The whole app comes in both languages and follows your iPhone’s language setting; Plaid’s bank-connection window opens in English. Every page of this site is in both, too.

One founder builds SI Money Tracker and holds it to one rule: if the app doesn’t do it today, we don’t say it does. The budget comes with the app, no account needed. Plus adds bank connection and automatic import: 7 days free when Apple says you're eligible, then $9.99/month, billed through your Apple Account. Cancel anytime in Settings.
